Round 18 9 August 2008
SENIORS
The guys showed a great fighting spirit to produce a good win in tough conditions. Congratulations in finishing the year with a win. We can now utter the ‘F’ word (finals) without watching our backs. Let’s show everyone that we deserve to be there.
RESERVES
A record win to the guys secured top spot at the end of the home and away fixture. Keep up the good work. Let’s make the most of the week off to come out rejuvenated against Whittlesea in 2 weeks. We need all reserves players to get behind the seniors this week.
NETBALL
A good win this week to the side just below. Keep it up Kirsti and crew hopefully the guys can get a chance to watch you in action in the finals (time permitting).
THANK YOU
To everyone who supported the $10000 draw last week. I’m sure there were a number of sore heads on Monday.....
Congratulations to Steven McCloskey on winning the big $$$$.
CONGRATULATIONS
Epping stalwart Colin Bartlett who turns 60 today. Let’s give him another reason to celebrate tonight at the club after the game.

Round 17 2 August 2008
SENIORS
Well last week we proved to Watsonia that we are worthy of finals and are playing a different brand of football from the first time we met. With quite a few injured players to return, selection will be extremely difficult in the coming weeks......keep up the good work.
It was great to see the senior side chatting to the past players who had played in finals in 51/62/63/68 when they attended the club for a reunion. There was a lot of reminiscing, encouragement and words of advice in the offering from the past to the present.
RESERVES
Another great win to the guys. With one game clear on top of the ladder, it is imperative that we win today to secure the spot in the lead up to the finals. Keep up the good work. Next year maybe a few of you will take the next step and accept the offer to have a crack at playing in the seniors.
NETBALL
A disappointing loss last week to the top side who have only lost one game for the season. However, 3rd place on the ladder has been secured with a berth in the finals in two weeks time. Keep it up Kirsti and crew hopefully the guys can get a chance to watch you in action in the finals (time permitting).
THANK YOU
Tony Taggart for organising the reunion last week. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We hope to see some of the past players as regulars once again around the club.

Round 16 26 July 2008
SENIORS
A great start, terrible middle and a fantastic end. A game which was a must win if we wanted to play finals, lived up to expectations. A terrific performance by both sides which saw us walk away with a win. Thank you to South Morang for your hospitality on the day and you have our full support leading in to 2009 with current issues.
This week we host Watsonia in what is a must win game to secure a top six finish. Good luck guys.
RESERVES
The Reserves remain on top of the ladder after a poor start to the game against South Morang. A great second half saw us walk away easy victors. It seems that we are in need of a rev up at half time during the last three weeks in order to get the job done. Grand finals don’t come easy and require a dedicated approach at training and game day.
Lets finish the year off with two more wins and head towards the finals with no stone unturned.
Good luck guys.
NETBALL
Another fantastic victory this week . The netballers are doing extremely well in their first year and will be playing off in finals this year. Get down and have a look this week and support the girls.

Round 15 19 July 2008
SENIORS
A physical match against Reservoir on the weekend which was not pretty in its skill level but resulted in a must win for the Senior side. Eight inured players saw us promote a number of players who performed extremely well in less than ideal conditions. A special mention to Josh “Jesus” Cullen who must have been inspired by World Youth Day and the Pope’s visit. Well done guys, lets march forward to the finals.
RESERVES
A fantastic return to form with a twenty goal win over Reservoir. With a large number of players promoted to the senior side our depth showed through. Our third quarter saw us kick four goals and eleven behinds before a last quarter boom resulting in a return of eleven goals and one behind.
Three games to goal….it’s in your hands.
NETBALL

Round 14 12 July 2008
SENIORS
What can I say?..............The opposition was more physical and played a footy to suit the cold and blustery conditions. With a bench full of walking wounded and a few injured still on the ground we played the game out. Hopefully we can recover quickly and get back to full strength (or thereabouts) this week.
RESERVES
Top position relinquished last week to a team who was determined to win. It seems there are quite a few passengers who believe that they are on easy street and don’t need to train. If this is the case, there are a few players in the rotation who would be only too happy to take up a regular position. Let’s get back on the track and take our lead up to the finals seriously.....no one is easy beats you need to prove that you deserve to be there.
NETBALL
Another good win to the Bluebirds over Bundoora by 17 goals on the inside courts this week (thank goodness). This sees us sitting 3rd on the ladder with 4 games to go. Well done to Kirsty and the girls.
CONGRATULATIONS
Macca (Big Mac) & Danni on the birth of Jack James (Junior Burger) on 11 July. All doing well.
SOCIAL
Everyone who attended the Trivia Night had a great time. Well done to GG and Habers on a fantastic entertaining night.

27th September – Presentation night – tickets now available.

Round 13 5 July 2008
SENIORS
We had an unfortunate loss and a missed opportunity to progress up the ladder. Hurstbridge played us well and deserved the win. Our goal kicking skills let us down all day. Kicking 22 points was not a good result. It’s now time to regroup and come out strong against Thomastown this week.
RESERVES
Another good win and a loss to Mernda sees us sitting one game clear on top of the ladder. Team work has brought us this far. A win this week against Thomastown is paramount to our run towards the finals. Well done guys and let’s see you all there this week training hard.
NETBALLERS
An unfortunate loss last week. Regroup girls and come out this week and bring home a win. Good luck.

Round 12 28 June 2008
SENIORS
Yet another heart stopper, but we came through in the end. We played high a spirited game with plenty of opportunities for each side. It was our fitness and willingness to succeed that showed through in the end.
A special mention to our backline who stood tall all day and along with all others helped Habers celebrate his 100th game in style. This week we tackle Hurstbridge at their ground in the hope of our seventh win on the trot. Well done guys we are now in 4th place.
RESERVES
It was always going to be a hard game with both teams sharing top spot. A calculated performance saw us come away with a well deserved win. I am sure we will meet Lower Plenty again in the finals race. We remain in top position through our hard work. It was great to see all the Reserves players hanging around and forming a strong group both on and off the field.
NETBALL
A two point loss on the weekend to the netball team but I am sure we will rebound this week. Good luck girls, both at netball and after at the ladies night.
SOCIAL
This week the girls take centre stage at the rooms… sorry guys… The ladies night is on this Saturday and tickets are selling fast. See Kirsty Stilsby if you want to be involved. Entertainment is provided on the night, raffles, prizes and food. Drinks are available at bar prices.

Round 11 21 June 2008
SENIORS
A fantastic effort by the entire team. We were down several times in the last quarter but managed to get ourselves up off the deck and recorded a memorable win. Unfortunately we lost Tim Likos to injury. We wish him a speedy recovery.
This week we must consolidate and push up the ladder again.
I’m glad we had a win otherwise I think the older man in yellow may have been lynched. A message to you, don’t make your dislike of the club influence your umpiring, or at least try and conceal it.
Thanks to the few Fitzroy Stars person who came in after the game… would have liked to have met more of you, next time perhaps.
RESERVES
A resounding victory in the end although a bit lack lustre at times. A good all round performance that sees us starting to cement our spot at the top of the ladder. Once again as like the seniors a very important game this week against Lower Plenty. Make sure we come ready to play.
PRESIDENT ’S DAY
All those that came had a terrific day listening to stories from Geoff Southby.
Thank you the one hundred people who attended and a special thanks to our sponsors, Geoff Southby and our volunteers on the day.
NETBALL
Another resounding victory by the girls. The senior guys are getting together and will be coming to watch you soon.

Round 10 14 June 2008
SENIORS
Well done to the senior guys with an emphatic win over Heidelberg West. A special mention to Aaron Willits with his contribution of 17 goals.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves we still have eight games to go before we look at finals. Let’s make sure we use the opportunity that presents itself this week and get a win against Fitzroy Stars. With 4th position playing 5th, a win will move us up the ladder.
RESERVES
Well done to the Reserves guys for a terrific win against Heidelberg West. We are now sitting on top of the ladder with 9 wins and one loss. Let’s make sure that we consolidate our position and continue on our winning ways. Remember that there are players to return to both senior and reserves sides in the coming weeks. Make sure we all do the right things and be a part of history.
NETBALL
To round out the week the netballers had a fantastic 30 point win. The girls have been doing really well since the netball season commenced. We wish them every success in the coming weeks. Make sure you get down and support the girls as they are as much apart of the club as the footballers are. Go get ‘em girls…

Round 8 24 May 2008
SENIORS
What a great game with equal contributions from all. We had a couple of players out on the day so the pressure was on the new inclusions. They stood up and performed extremely well. The excuses are flowing thick and fast from Whittlesea as to why they lost. I tell you why you lost, its simple, we beat you, we played better and we won. Can’t put it any more simply.
RESERVES
Another fantastic win with six players missing we can’t rest on our performances over the last two weeks in either side. Well done guys, it’s great to see everyone enjoying themselves.
Great night was had at the cocktail night which unearthed some great talents on the karaoke.

SENIORS
A terrific performance in less than ideal conditions. We could definatly say it was a team performance.
We are steadily building towards improvement and look to continue the good form this week against Whittlesea.

A return to our winning ways. A little wayward on the scoring front but the ball did weight about eighty kilos after all the rain.

Round 6 10 May 2008
SENIORS
What a cracker of a game. A shame the result went against us .
The challenges are all ahead of us now and we can rise or fall.
I could sit here and talk about some good performances but at the end of the day we are judged on wether we win or lose. We lost no excuses.
Regroup this week and come out and show all that we have what it takes to tackle the top four.
RESERVES
Once again like the seniors we could not get it done on the day. A couple of players out and a few back up meant the rest needed to be accountable. Put simply we were not accountable.
A good lesson learned from the loss. Hit the track hard and come out with the determination and team play we saw in the first few weeks.

AROUND THE CLUB
Thank you to the volunteers for all your help to date.
However, we are in need of people to assist us on match days, especially at home games for approx 30 minutes after the game.
Helper’s are required to do a quick clean up around the grounds and in the change rooms.
Not a glamorous job but one that has to be done but many hand make light work.
Also on game day it is getting difficult to fill jobs such as timekeepers, interchange stewards and umpire escorts.
Thanks to the players and supporters who have helped so far.
With seven home games to go if any one is interested in taking on one of those jobs permanently, please see a member of committee.

Round 3 19 April 2008
SENIORS.
We were on the rollercoaster ride again this week. We need to get out on the training track and start kicking goals.
5 goals 14 behinds in the second half were not good. The game should have been over instead of a loss.
This week we have Watsonia on their turf, which will be a difficult game, but we hope to once again bounce back.
RESERVES
Great result again – playing to a game plan and rotations working effectively (without the ego’s of some in the higher grade) and as a result won well. Keep up the good work and top form.
SOCIAL SCENE Back at the rooms after the Watsonia game from 7pm sharp with happy hour between 7pm and 8pm we have the all famous “Casino Night”. This is a compulsory function for senior and reserve players. It’s a great night. Remember “You gotta be in it to win it”
Tickets will be available soon for the Presidents Day with Carlton legend Geoff Southby.
Also don’t forget the Ladies Night coming soon. It won’t be one to miss!
Grump award this week goes to an upset female supporter who was overheard by a new sponsor verbally attacking the Prez because a player’s photo was not on the walls of the clubrooms…….great to see the emotion BUT……..would be better directed in a positive way.

Round 2 12 April 2008
The reserves continued on there winning way. Excellent discipline and an all round group approach is proving very successful. Well done to the boys, continue the good hard work.
An excellent return to form that we all knew was there but needed a little prod. A terrific team performance. Lets not get ahead of ourselves it’s only round two after all. Continue with the hard work each on the way to our ultimate goal.
For those who are still knocking our no train - no play policy, have a talk to the players who are doing the hard work and getting rewarded and ask them if they are happy with it. No one gets a free ride.
This week we face South Morang, We welcome them to our ground and offer our hospitality. Hopefully we can come home with two great wins.

Round 1 5 April 2008
After a much anticipated start to the season, the sizeable assembly of supporters were presented with a fine display of football by our reserve team last week. Leading by example, Moata and crew had got us off to a good start.
Unfortunately the seniors could not complete the quinella in what turned out to be a fantastic day at the club in our “Be a part of history round”.
The committee and players would like to express their appreciation to the many ex players and supporters gathered at the club to both support and reminisce. Notably many of the 1990 premiership team were there in fine form. Thanks guys for your endorsement of the occasion.
Epping Football Club would like to sincerely thank one of our sponsors, Jax Quickfit Tyres for their donation of 4 tyres for our raffle.
